'New' Corvette.. 'Old' GT40...
I'm sure the driving experience is: 'Chalk and cheese', but on styling and presence who'd have put sixty years between these two??

Couldn't agree more, Baz... :) Mind you, was looking up performance figures on the Vette, the 'Hybrid' model shows 0-60 in under 1.9 seconds!!!!!

The fastest pass by a Ford GT at the Texas Mile reached a top speed of 300.4 miles per hour.

Record Details

    • Speed: 300.4 mph.
    • Date: March 2019.
    • Location: Victoria Regional Airport in Victoria, Texas.
    • Backup Run: The car also backed up the performance with a 299.2 mph run on the same day.
    I used to work that meet every October and most times in March as well. Amazing cars, bikes, and trucks run there.

That is an amazing speed for a 4 wheeler. From my days running the standing start miles on my turbo Hayabusa we would occasionally include some ‘fast’ 4 wheelers. None was ever able to crack 200mph, with the sole exception of a full race Dodge Viper that managed it - just! That was getting on for 20 years ago, it shows what progress has been made since them. Not including 2 wheelers where 300 still remains unbeaten with the sole exception of Bill Warner ( RIP ) and his 3 records again were nigh on 20 years ago.

I helped Bill Warner push his bike back to his pit at the Texas Mile, the last event he ran before he was killed in that fateful crash. I also handed him his timing slips at least a half-dozen times and visited in his pit many times, such a nice dude. RIP (photo from Goliad, Texas Mile Oct 2010

A seriously clever fellow, he was sorely missed throughout the top speed fraternity. His efforts make my 217.7 seem very pedestrian in comparison (although to my credit it was on my daily user road bike)

"daily road bike" BMW 1000RR? Even those don't go 200+ (without some "improvement)

330rwhp on 98 octane, up to 525 on 113 octane race fuel. BigCC stage 2 turbo with 0-20psi boost controller, on 8psi spring pressure. Fully licensed and insured for road use.

Sorry, no pictures, but I live within an hour of the Cherohala skyway and the Tail of the Dragon along with lots of other great roads. The other day in downtown Franklin NC I saw 5 Ford GT40s followed by a new vette passing through town. Not unusual to see packs of Porsches and Miatas,but this was a first. Just wondering how many millions of dollars on rubber rolled past my eyes.
