Guys and Ladies,

Unwilling to face another Seattle winter, I now have a winter residence in Austin, TX. I need to transport two of my bikes from Seattle to Austin in late October, and back again in the early summer. I would greatly appreciate hearing recommendations from the forum members on transport companies for which they have personal experience. My own experience is limited to transporting project bikes, and I was not really demanding on the quality of the received product. Both bikes are cherry, and I'd want to see them arrive in that condition in Austin. Any recommendations? Paul? (Laredo isn't THAT far from Austin).

Rick

You need look no further than Keyboard Motorcycle Shippers. Well over a dozen moves they've done for me in the last 5 years with excellent service door-to-door every time.

Austin is about 4 hours away for me. (south Austin; NORTH Austin is another hour!)

Thanks for your responses.

Paul,
Keyboard really looks good. Their shipping dolly is really impressive, and their rate is the best I've found. They have some doubt as to whether they can arrange a Seattle pickup in mid-October, when I need it (We're up in the NW corner of the US, and they're in KY). I'll use them if they can schedule it.

I'm northwest of Austin, near Lake Travis, 20 minutes from Austin center. From my college days at UT, I'm embarrassed to say that I know the road to Laredo (and Nuevo Laredo) very well. Younger and dumber, I guess.

Cal,
I used JC Motors when shipping my Mk3 project from NC to Seattle. Arrived on time and in good shape. Glad to hear that your experience was a good one. If Keyboard can't deliver, I'll use them again.

Thanks again.

Rick

Rick, my daughter is out in Leander near there, off 183 north. We were just out at Inks lake weekend before last for my birthday. We were doing the Mexican Hillbilly thing, water skiing with my 25HP tiller-steer Evinrude on a litte 14' aluminum fishing boat. It was a hoot and a half.

We go there about every other month; Austin is a great scene. My son is way south, south of the river near Wm. Cannon. He's got my old ZRX1100 but he's about to get his first turn picking out one of my old Triumphs from the collection (not a Norton, yet).

Great riding area.
