Just prior to this year’s Barber Vintage Festival Rocky Point Cycle (RPC) concluded the sale of all it’s Norton parts offerings and manufacturing rights to Colorado Norton Works (cNw). I have always been impressed with the product quality and outstanding customer service that cNw provides and feel very good about my parts joining those ranks.
RPC will continue to provide service, repair and individual component rebuild choices to the Norton community, but will no longer be offering stainless steel parts for Norton motorcycles. I did not make this choice lightly, but determined that carrying the inventory was not a profitable enterprise. I considered holding a going-out-of-the-Norton-parts-business sale, but knew that at some point I would not be able to fill complete orders and did not want to risk disappointing my customers and causing ill will.
In anticipation of retiring from the increasingly “politically” charged rat race of Corporate America I purchased RPC from Stan Smith, whom many of you know, about 10 years ago. Having over 52 years of British motorcycle experience purchasing RPC seemed like the best way to retire by not retiring. I like having a place to go that carries responsibilities and customer commitment; it keeps me vital and gives me the opportunity to learn something new every day including the development and deployment of my virtual third arm and hand. I read the Access Norton Forum daily to augment this learning process and continue to be amazed by the body of knowledge and member experiences embodied there; I will continue to participate and hope my contributions prove helpful. I turned 70 recently and want to spend more time riding while I can still kick start my British twin motorcycles, although I do have a cNw e-start kit for my latest Norton build, pictures soon.
I will continue to support and expand the BMW portion of RPC and, from time to time, will be selling some good quality used Norton parts. I want to thank all of you that have supported RPC and ‘am glad that my legacy will live on with cNw.
