I'm looking to overhaul the fork on my Dominator before a big ride in Sept. I know this is the Commando area of this site, but I figured since this thread would be applicable to thse bikes as well, what the heck.

Anyway, I've noticed on JS Motorsport's site, (http://jsmotorsport.com/products.asp) they have some nifty synthetic bushes that seem to be a good option for replacement over the bronze bushes. Has anyone tried these? Do they stand up to wear? Can you feel an actual difference in stiction?

They also have a damper mod kit that fixes the bottoming out clunk. I've seen a few of these sorts of modifications out there. It seems like a good idea, and the price seems right from the JS motorsports kit. Anyone had experience with this sort of kit?

What I need is a full rebuild. The seals leak, springs are saggy as all get out, and by the way the front end is clunking, I fully expect to have worn stanchions, worn caps, etc.

So, does anyone make a full rebuild kit with some sort of damping fix and synthetic bushings?

Thanks,

Kevin

First make sure the parts are in good order, Worn stanchions will cause errratiic fork action as will twisted yolk's , Plastic bush's are OK ..PTFE filled Peek is fantastic but very expensive!
Damper Mods range from a few dollars to a modern cartridge replacement.

Hi John,

I've used PEEK in my profession (R&D aerospace engineering) It is magical stuff.

Been reading the other threads on your damper kit. Do you have set ups suitable for a 1960 Dominator slimline with internal springs?

Kevin

Hi Kev,
I have one set in stock for a Dommie with short roadholdes,
www.lansdowne-engineering.com
I priced up some 50mm PEEK with P.T.F.E .... I fell of the chair !
mayby some Acetate with 10% Slick 50 would be a good ? , Acetate is none Hydroscopic , I have made some solid PTFE bush's .the material as you know is fantasticly slippy. ..001 CF
but it's modulas is low, and will grow! as will Oilion and any Nylon based plastic.
Regards
john lansdowne Eng.
