Ok, I have done a search already & I know you blokes/sheilas love to help out by answering questions.

Can anyone tell me what a 19" Rim 40 holes with mc283 WM2 Made in England Dunlop will fit/suit?

Thanks in advance :D

Well, look who's back! Where have you been for the last two years? :)

Sorry I don't know the answer to your rim question - maybe someone else does - but thought I'd say hey!

Hi Debby, Nice to hear your voice :D

How is your snorton going, guess you would have doen a few miles on it by now ?

You will have to point me to a recent photo of your norton.

I have been without a norton for almost 2 years & have just brought a "basket case" to rebuild. Grease everywhere :!:

I have a back wheel but just a hub and this rim for the front. The number is not familiar so I thought I would get an answer overnight on this forum. I will take it in to the local British Bike shop this morning(sat) and ask them if no answer arrives.

Cheers :D

Hey nortonfan, the front rim on my '74 850 has the same markings as the one that you describe.

Thanks James, I was hoping it was for a disc brake and not a drum.

1974 Commandos Rule don't they ?

Cheers :D

You certainly won't get any arguments from me! Nothing wrong with a good 750, either.

Speaking of that, here's what mine looks like these days:

It's logged 4,000 miles since the rebuild and is doing great!

I'm just finishing up its Spring tuneup. It's getting a new rear tire, fresh fluids, and then it will be all set for another season. I have several other bikes but the Norton got ridden the most last year. It's a keeper! :D

Debby: is that a Bruce Chessel rear carrier?

Looks Great Debby, good job done :D

I see you have a decent front brake to pull her up, good one.

Where is chain guard ? Is that where you normally start her up?
I can't see any oil patches  Is it oil tight?

How does she run & idle? Nicely by now I bet.

Next to 1974 commandos your model rules also

Yup, rear carrier by Bruce Chessell. I really like it.

Bruce also resleeved my Amals. One kick starts, nice smooth 1000 rpm idle, 50+ mpg. Gotta love it!

I did the 520 chain conversion and ran without a chainguard for quite a while. I use chain wax, so no mess to worry about. This winter I finally got around to installing the CNW chainguard that I purchased a couple of years ago. I had it powdercoated black. It looks sharp! I'll have to post a photo.

Front brake is custom, using a Nissin 13mm master cylinder, Nissin four-piston caliper, and Harley rotor. The brake is strong but not too strong (like modern bikes). I put it to the test last summer when I took my eyes off the road at the wrong time (don't do that!). The brake saved me from disaster.

No drips but it does ooze a little. It just wouldn't have character if it didn't

When I get the 850 finished up it will be interesting to compare the two bikes. I can settle that old 750 vs. 850 debate for myself!

BTW my front rim is stamped MC275...

Debby:

That's a good lookin' Commando.

I goofed in instructing the painter on my sidecovers, I neglected to give him the correct alignment for the decals, and he aligned them with the top side of the sidecover; when installed, they appear to be angled up toward the front (the left side is especially noticeable). I'm going to send them back for re-paint.
