I recently installed a swing arm spindle I purchased from RGM (060453) and now need to extract it (for reasons I won't go into). I purchased the extractor bolt kit from AN (13.2060), which appears to be 1/2-20 UNF, but the bolt doesn't fit the thread of the RGM spindle. The extractor bolt does fit my old spindle (which I replaced with the RGM spindle). Can anyone tell me what the thread might be of the RGM spindle?

You are indeed correct, and I was indeed talking bollocks! I was thinking about the top locating screw. (Note to self: Refrain from responding to technical details when you're half asleep!)

By way of an apology, I have both the AN swingarm spindle extractor bolt (13.2060) AND an RGM spindle (060453) and can confirm that the AN extractor bolt is the right fit for the RGM pin...

The thread will be 1/2 unf, but if it was badly cut or formed then that would have been heat treated along with the rest of the shaft and then not accept the bolt. A 1/2 unf tap could be used to clean the thread or used itself as the extractor.

While we're on the topic, can you explain how the extractor works? Do you tighten the nut against the swingarm to pull the bolt outwards?

My understanding of it is that you wind the bolt in as far as it will go then tighten the nut with the washer in front against the spindle while holding the bolt to stop it turning and it should draw the pin out.

Hope I've got that right as I can't blame it on being half asleep this time 😉
