Anyone try this combination? I have these rear sets installed with my original kick start. The kick start clears everything, but it sticks out to the point that it will ride on the side of my leg/foot and make it hard to keep a foot on the shifter. I have not ridden with this combination yet as the bike is still being built. Was just wondering if there was a better solution to use with linkage style rear sets. Thanks, Josh

My old kick start lever use to do the same thing but I brought the folding kick start from RGM and it completely folds away and never had the problem since, it should be the same with rear sets with the folding kick start it will sit out a bit further on the shaft but can't see any problems there, I run Commando foot pegs mounts set up on my Featherbed, as well since having the folding kick start it has also stopped coming loose on the kick shaft and not having to tighting the bolt up all the time which I had to do all the time with the orginal kicker.
The best thing as well being a longer kicker its a lot easier to kick the motor to life with a hi compression motor, that extra leverage helps so much.

Ashman, would this be their 8 1/2" lever? Part number 050179?
Thanks

Not sure of the part number as its been over 5 years ago, mine is the T160 Triumph kicker on the Norton spline I have to find my RGM part book and look up the number.

Don't bother looking it up, that is the one I was asking about. My leg/knee are not what they used to be. I'm looking for an easier way to start the Commando.

Once my bike has been started for the day with the longer leverage I can easierly kick my Norton to life with 1/2 a swing on the kicker and sitting on the seat, but thats with the Joe Hunt maggie also helps, the folding kicker was one of the best improvements I have done to my Norton, but then over 42 years of owning it I have done many good improvements over that time, it just gets better, but I am sure the folding kicker will be a big help to kicking your Norton to life.

Thanks again Ashman. The Norton is a project I plan on starting early next year. It starts and runs but it is rough!

I like rough looking Nortons for some reasond they look well ridden, my Norton showing its age gracefully with lots of mile under it, only get a clean and polish once a year on its birtday ( the day I brought it new) its gone throught a lot of big changes over the 43 years, its got scraches, dents in the tank but it still looks good and always draws a crowd when parked.

One thing.about the RGM kicker and rear sets is that there is less toe room than the stock kicker due to how the knuckle protrudes to the rear for the pivot.

Hi Josh - I have the Madass rear sets on my 72, and I ordered the RGM folding kickstarter. Unfortunately it does not fit with the Madass rear sets.

In other news...does anyone want to buy a folding RGM Kickstarter?:)

I think the RGM is only a realistic option for a reversed lever (ie non linkage) set up. When I mocked up using a linkage set up, the pegs needed to be too far back, due to the lack of toe room as already mentioned.

FWIW, an RGM kicker and cNw rearsets are a wonderful combo !

FWIW#2, Matt should offer a straight gear change lever and a kickstart plug, lever so that his electric leg kit customers can remove the kicker altogether, neaten things up, and save weight!

How about it Matt?

I've been pondering the MK3 piece, to get more leverage, but this looks even longer. Assuming yer serious, wanna PM me with a price?

This information is for my featherbed 500 single but may be useful...?
I fitted the RGM longer kickstart and homemade rear sets (based on Tarozzi fixed pegs) and it clears okay - see pics below
Let me know if you need more (dimensions etc)
Cheers

Anyone have pictures of this kick start lever with a stock set up? Going in for orthoscopic knee surgery at the end of January. Lucky me, then rehab.

I spoke with RGM a couple of days ago and ordered one. They said it would work on a stock MK2. Looking at Robs pictures it appears the bit that attaches to the quadrant shaft is extended some and (hopefully) allows the lever to clear the foot rest mount on the MK2.

+1 on kickstart plug, no k/s shaft and an improved layshaft support.
