hi.
Seeing that i'm rebuilding everything , I was wondering about the wiring. is it wise to pursue this option of converting to negative earth and adding fuse boxes with different circuits
I've been reading a few threads and my question is whether or not someone has a diagram or instructions that would convert my bike over without any guess work?
I have the phase 3 alternator, sparx ignition, colorado norton Honda style handle bar switchgear, a set of heated grips and would run a GPS. It would be nice to separate the circuits to track any faults. My wiring loom is new. I'm well and truly over guesswork so avoiding the benefit of hindsight would be great.

If you do go to negative earth on your MK 3 remember to check the rotation of the starter motor. you will have to alter its rotation (move the brushes a quarter turn)

No, as the polarity is reversed in the field coils and the armature windings, the starter motor continues to turn in the same direction.

so, are you referring to the sparx ignition?.. i have just spent a bunch of time trying to figure out why my bike is running like a hairy goat when i know i have timed it correctly, and re checked ..... and re checked.
thanks for the great info already sent lads. great photos and detail. Gotta love the voice of experience.

Hang on, I may have mislead you on the ignition. Mines a tri Spark , same as 850Dunstalls photo shows.
Sorry for any confusion. Hillbone
