Retirement

Moral of the story: RIDING is the best thing to do in retirement, with WRENCHING being second-best...

I hear you on the wrenching... Yesterday's ride has generously presented the opportunity too... He approaches intersection with ROW seeing an oncoming ass, knowing in his heart said ass is occupied and going to run stop sign... so's he plows on brakes and saves the day, but receives, as he stops a grinding metallic symphony from front caliper.... Goes home and parks Norton quickly orders brake pads... Retirement never has a dull moment when you spend it with NV. Regardless of failure machine stopped reliably and fast.

Knew they needed replacing when wheel bearings were packed 2 months ago too but forgot.

Nah, you just need to be more adventurous with your shopping . Went out yesterday and was impressed by how well traffic lights work when they are not needed

For wear parts , since you got lots of time on your hands , order 2 of stuff you need as it needs replacing , that way there is almost always the part on your shelf when you do need it .... I buy my oil filters , brake pads , air filters , plugs etc. that way and hardly ever have to sit and wait for mail or for shop to open , it costs no more and sometimes there is a discount for buying a big order , especially from local shops ....

With any motorcycle I own, I only replace what really needs it. Sloppy bores never blew up a motorcycle and tight bores make the bike slower. I like to keep the bottom end bearings tight, and do a valve grind sometimes.
