Hi,

My rebuilt is almost over, and I have to put all covers back to there place. I have the original gaskets that I want to replace by brand new. Tried it on the gearbox cover, but I still had leaks. Then tried high temp silicon - red - and still the same.

What would you recommend?

Try this - https://www.permatex.com/products/uncat ... aker-grey/

It made my Commando a total non-leaker. It's basically the same stuff as Honda or Yamabond and it's become the only thing I use on boats/cars/bikes.

One thing to be aware of, many of the leaks on these bikes are caused by previous over tightening of fasteners which warped the mating surfaces. So ensuring that the associated surfaces are true is a good thing to do when possible.

Plain silicone is too soft .... it squishes out. JS Motor sports (jseng on this Forum) has a fiberglass reinforced silicone gasket for GB cover. If it still leaks with one of those, the cover is likely not flat, or there is a gouge in either the cover or case.

I have sealed stubborn leaks with 1/16" synthetic cork. That is too thick for the GB cover, but 1/32" is available if you can find it. 1/32" is not likely at your local auto parts supply, but you can get it at McMaster Carr.
