I agree, if I had an electric leg I’d definitely remove the kick start, and associated internals.

It’d go a little way to off setting the extra weight.

Which is clearly a huge issue... psychologically at least...!

I have both the CNW and NYC rear set kits.....Both are like jewelry...Both work very well...dealing with Matt and Kenny has ALWAYS been a great experience

NYC rear sets look awesome also look like they might be optionally able to reverse the shift pattern ?

Thanks appreciate but I should have mentioned I have a 1969 commando.

What's the difference? Aside from the domed primary cover. Which shouldn't change anything.

Domed(?) primary cover? Does that mean the holes? Prob not the best angle or shot to look/see what the hyde setup looks like on that side, but 1st one i came across.

Yea, the question was 'commando' which could include the e-start 75, but usually e-start and or 75 would be mentioned if the question is specific to that model, particularly when it comes to the pegs (total diff/opposite sides that year only), but then again, a noob wouldn't necessarily know any of that ...eitherway

the pix are good for showing fitting on all pre 75 commandos.

Also, not directly related to the thread question - 'CNW and NYC rear set kits'

Geesh I should stop posting and just read and learn (I might just be dim) . I thought pic was a late model Commando with a left side shift , after looking again I see its a right side shift.

I think I'm going to buy the NYC rear sets I like the look and the clean lines and the way the kick fits and flows with the shifter .

Dunno how tall you are but the Hyde one looks quite a bit more forward positioned, to the others. I'd look hard at how it would feel, on the bike first. Prob mostly an issue if taller.

Good point I'm 62 and old I think I'll see if I can visit NYC and sit on one of there bikes and get a feel for their rear sets. Hyde's are out I don't like the way the kicker sticks out it looks awkward.

Norton footrests are too far forward and rear sets cure that, but the NYC are the furthest to the rear so testing would be a good idea. I have kept the low euro bars, no clipons and it works for me but the passenger pegs also need to be moved backwards if a passenger is planned.

When I had my Hyde rear sets on I extended the rear brake lever and moved up the cable fixing hole the rear brake was the best it’s ever been ,have never got it that good again, with other rear sets or original.

Anyone use these types of Hyde rear sets? I’m thinking about buying them but that kicker seems really in the way of the shifter maybe a folding kicker would solve the issue .

The folding kicker will make it worse, it will fold into the lever and be stuck out in the open, the reason the NYC are further back is to move the gear shift lever out of the way of the folding kickstart.

The kickstart lever would normally be repositioned on the splines.
