Rear Cylinder Head Bolt Removal

I'm Taking the head off a 74 850 and I'm having some problem with the rear cylinder head nut. Its a really tight fit any tips on how to get this off.

What problem are you having, getting to it, or finding a wrench to fit it? I just used a Craftsman 13mm combination wrench with the box end slightly enlarged with a small file.

Is that the one you need a box that is really thin or ground down on George?

I used a 14mm box-end at an angle...

Get a proper 1/4 whit ring spanner....you may have to grind down the outside, as they need to be quite slim.

I have 1/4 whitworth it just dosn't seem to fit it feel to small. The wrench that fits it the best is a 14mm it's not rounded off. I guess I will try to grind off some of the outer parts of the wrench so it fits better.

Do any you have a photo of the wrench that you used? I ground down my 1/4 withworth and I still can't get it fit.

Tools are often different sizes from different manufacturers. A half inch, thirteen mm, can vary a lot. Find one that is a good fit and grind it and bend it to fit your needs.

Jeez Ludwig, looking at how badly bent this box end wrench is I'd say you're torquing your head bolts too much!

They're supposed to be 300 inch LBs. not 300 foot LBs.!
