Bonjour,

1961 was the last year the Model 20 was manufactured.

I wanted one even if the wait for delivery was long because at the time AMC gave
preference to the production of the 650 M 31 and CSR (for the twins).
The importer in Paris (Aris brothers) advised me to take one for a immediate delivery,
but I wanted the double framed black half-liter of Plumstead Road that I received after
a few months.

It seems that very few Model 20 were produced that 1961 year, and sometimes I like
to imagine that there was only one : mine !

Wikipedia must be wrong then. They say the Model 20 was a 2 port version of the Model 18 (490cc OHV).
They say the last Model 18 was made in 1954 and the last Model 20 was made in 1939.
I'm really intrigued as to what you have - again, photos please.

Bonjour Bellacraine,

You have a rare bike indeed. In about 10 years, I have seen an eBay advert for engine parts for the revised M20/G9 only once.

Not very many late type 650s were produced (less than 5000 is my guess) - the number of late model 500 twins produced is probably less than 500.
