Anyone in the USA know what has happened to both?? The phone to his home or workshop is not answered and neither are e mails being answered.

I talked to him on the phone a few years ago, and he seemed to be hinting towards slowing down (or at least that an e-start mod to a Triumph would take nearly a year). My guess is he's retired or nearly so...

From what British Cycle Supply told me was.... don't hold your breath.
There are others that have belt drives. Maney, clubman racing, RGM
Cheers,

I think he did a belt final drive, not primary. The only other one I know of is Jim Comstock's.

Talked to Bob at his shop a few months ago. He was still hard at work.
That's good to hear.

When I go, I want it to be where I'm still wrenching and riding.

Well it took me a few years to learn from Bob Oswald all the many secrets for getting belts to FCORRECTLY fit unit Triumph/BSA twins etc enabling me to make systems correctly ... for friends ONLY. I have been waiting on Bob sending me a Made in China sample diaphragm spring so I can test it for him to detewrmine if it is sauitable for his Commando type clutch belt systems and if not to do the calculations to determine the changes it requires to make it suitable. I SUSPECT Bob sent the Chinese a late Commando spring which is totally useless for a dry clutch IF the clutch lever is to be easily operated all day long with two fingers MAX yet still give a clutch that will not slip when fully engaged......easy clutch operation being a quality they are suppossed to possess and is needed riding around London etc in traffic jams...... Unfortunately in spite of my very best efforts over the decades Bob simply did not understand diaphragm springs and my money is on him sending the wrong version of Commando spring spring for them to copy.......belts and CORRECT belt tension he understood but diaphragm springs......Bet few realise that correct belt tension is so critical if good belt life is to be obtained that if Bob made two say T140 systems with each going to diffenent ends of the USA for use in different temperature zones the systems were slightly different so as to obtain correct belt tension when in use......
If anyone over there in the Parkesburg area knows some FACTS as to what is going on please post.....
