Just a quick one if somebody could help me out please.

My tappets were already out on my rebuild so I could not record their orientation. I know the importance of the oil groove, but can't remember the way round it goes. The manuals and everyone else states that this groove faces the front of the engine - this can be taken in two ways, so some clarification would be appreciated.

In other words, do the grooves face towards the front wheel or back wheel?

Cheers, Bob

Hi Bob,

The groove should be facing the front wheel, so when oil runs down it to the cam lobes, it's carried "backwards" with the rotation of the cam

Thanks for that. This is what I thought, but better to be safe than sorry!
