I'm doing the math at the moment and need some information regarding the 2-1 manifolds out there.
Seems like there are two choices.. the MAP manifold with spigot to flange adapter.. (one poster said they were cr*p)
and the RGM manifold that desn't need an adapter... just a bit of tubing and a couple of clamps.

The information I seek is the length of the manifolds, that is, the distance from the head side (outlet) of the manifold to the inlet side (carb mount).
Which one is the shortest?

What I am trying to accomplish, is to be able to use the stock aircleaner and backplate. I want to use the Norvil single carb filter plate. I may have to cut down the perferatod metal filter surround and find a thinner filter. I'd like to keep the stock airbox "appearance" and still have some reasonable filter area. The Mikuni Flatslide TM34 carb I want to use is thinner than a Mikuni Roundslide VM or Amal MKII, so "maybe" I can get things to fit, look and work to my expectations.

I've done what you're talking about. I'm using one of Sudco's VM34 kits with a shortened aircleaner. K&N makes a variety of filter elements.

I don't see why MAP manifolds are seen by SOME as "crap"

I had one on my single Mikuni for 17 years, and it was perfect in every way.

Thousands of them are right now installed, happily doing their job, between Mikuni and Norton heads.

Hi JD,

Have you come across this picture:
question re: 2-1 manifolds...

It's a VM but shows it can be done.

Apologies to any forum member who owns this bike, I saved the image but did not save any of the details.

It was a comment one poster had... I have no aversion to using it except that with the flange to spigot adapter it's about 3 times the cost of th RGM for the same functionality...
It looks like Clubman Racing offers the RGM manifold for a "nice" price..

Cost aside, I'll go with the shortest one so I can have more filter area..

Beautiful.... thanks!

with the VM, there should be a bit more surface area available for a thicker filter element, and if the RGM is sharter than the MAP, then a bit more still.

edit... comparing the length og th VM34 vs. the TM34..... the TM is 10mm (.394") shorter.

Now all I need to find is the difference between the MAP and the RGM manifolds.....

Anyone?
