My point is that the very concept of ‘fit for purpose‘ or ‘merit’ is being challenged.
Have y’all noticed we have labels for everything these days. And as soon as something has a label, you can‘t discriminate against it (often quite rightly I might add, but there are limits)...
So here’s a prediction: it won’t be long before we’re not allowed to comment on / judge / discriminate based on someone’s intelligence.
Being a bit thick, or slow, will be outlawed and replaced with something like IDS (Intelligence Deficiency Syndrome) and you’ll not be allowed to discriminate against IDS.
So, even though you may be as thick as two short planks, if you want to be a scientist, airline pilot, nuclear physicist, etc employers won’t be allowed to say you’re not up to the task and it will be your right to be allowed such positions !
In fact, becasue of the decades of discrimination against IDS sufferers we’ll have a decade or two of reverse discrimination whereby the genuinely bright, gifted, clever ones will be deliberately overlooked to ensure a fair quota of IDS sufferers in the top positions.
If you think I’m kidding... have a look around you...
