My Rev counter started to go all over the place, mainly too high.Checked the gage with a cordless drill and all was smooth.looks like the cable started to fail by the drive end....and maybe even the drive spring cable shortened as a result and partially pulled out.Ordered new complete cable from Ebay vendor specializing in cableshttp://www.ebay.com/itm/141196138428?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
