P11 Engine Case Infomarion

HeY!!!

I am a Triumph guy that bought a wack of engines and cases this weekend.

I ended up with a bottom end (engine case, timing cover, Crank, rods, pistons) of a P11 serial unit. I googled them and they came back as 1967 Norton P11 Desert Racer. What are the chances of this, and how would I be able to tell?

It also came with a fairly complete transmission that also had a P11 stamp, I would assume came from the same bike.

Let me know what you think, I would be happy to share pictures!!!

Given the number of P11's that seem to pop up over here on the forum, I'd say the chances are good that it's a genuine P11. The survival rate of P11's seems impressive to me. Post pics of the crankcase number and we can at least tell you if they look like the ones on ours. If you poke around a bit, you'll find lists of serial numbers which may include yours. IIRC. the serial number lists are imcomplete, so no guarantees.

Having trouble uploading the pictures, but the engine case numbers are P11/122788 The trans is P11 17956.

I am located just outside Toronto, and yeah would be looking to sell if it all works out. I also seem to have found the barrels for the motor as well (stamped 24237).

My bike (Factory tested July '67 P11) has engine and gearbox numbers almost numerically 160 away from both your numbers...

So your saying there is a chance?!? very cool.... Shifting through more parts I may have also found a header in tough shape. Hoping to stumble across the heads, and potentially frame as well.

122788 should be a '67 P11. The frame would have the same serial number as the cases if you have a matching frame. Gearboxes are not number matched with the cases.
