okay, first accident on any of my road bikes (lots on the dirt, long, long ago)

bent the exhaust header on the left side
can this be repaired? I have heard that expansion plugs at both ends
then heating to red hot with 1ooPSI in the pipe will pop out the dent.

Anyone have any experience with this or should I just buy a new (or used if possible) header?

thanx in advance

Well do you want it to be a task you remember and share forever more or just throw money at it? Depends on how strapped you are and how much bending on aged crack prone header. I've heard of bending while packed with sand and other stuff but not a ding puffed out though makes sense and what a picture to imagine of the process. Getting new headers is easy best way - to start anew on a limited lasting component, then see what can be done with smashed one as you do know you could crash next time out on the same side just like me or anyone : (

If a hick was to try it I'd pack with Dry beans, fill with water but ain't figured out how to plug the end w/o damage.

I hate the smell of road rash in the morning.

New headers are quite cheap.

Maybe in ozzz

$200+ here and you get a pair

Still looking for used so that I can try poppong the other out
without breaking it and ending up Norton-less for a week or more

Yeah but where the group fun and lesions and reputation making in that path... Besides you ain't told him about the risks of every new fitting of new headers, a toss of the dice to clear stuff like kicker or primary and aim mufflers right...
Somehow must seal ends then could pump grease in with bulk being sand or such where the heat hits. Maybe fill with plaster that could be knocked out later. Least he knows crashing is part of the hobby for many of us. Oh that hurts, just being a week off you C'do, I've had to endure years form various let downs, hope you don't have to suffer such withdrawals and then working back into the quirks of C'do's.

Or you can get them direct from CS for $180.

Hmmm, you haven't figured out a way to shoot the dent out

Oh sure, plug one end of header, seal 12 gauge barrel to other end rack in a hi brass bird shot rd, stand back a bit then yank string on trigger! Its known in industry as explosive metal forming, duh. The locals mark road signs that way here all the time, especially the big one that says Home of President Clinton...

Tubas get dents in them especially in the marching bands. Some guy invented some sort of magnetic hammer, he inserts balls in the tuba and attracts them with a powerful magnet that goes on and off and beats the dents out of them from the inside. I doubt if you could find a tuba service guy though?
