Old Britts Parts

For those wondering why the Norton parts sellers are disappearing from the US there's a simple reason. Not enough sales to continue or to sell the business.

Since buying the Old Britts Norton inventory, I've sold 3 parts (two buyers). My total profit on those parts: $0.24. So, in the 40 days since I posted the parts for sale, I've been rewarded $0.006 per day for my efforts. I had those three parts in stock so actually it was detrimental to sell them at all!

I'm already looking for a "fire sale" buyer for my Amal stock other than carbs and thinking about dumping the OB stock to one the eBay people who will sell them at full price.

Sorry to hear that Greg, I can imagine it's not a nice situation but perhaps folks are unaware? Are you also on Facebook and the NOC? If not perhaps you could proxy somebody to promote your business on those sites?

One real hinderance is that so many places have links to former Norton parts sellers. To move up the search list, you need to be more known and that means links to your site.

For instance, search: norton command id and you'll find me first, norton commando serial and you'll find me second. Search anything related to Norton parts and you'll find dead companies before me - especially Old Britts - why? For example, look here: https://www.nwno.org/resources/OldBrittsWebsite/ob_nor.html I assume they are providing a "service" of providing the tech articles but don't know how to provide only those so they grabbed the entire site and published it. Makes Old Britts seem to Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. to appear to be live.

The Norton portion of my site is visited by an average of 81 individuals every day (187 entire site). No one comes close to the prices I charge forum members. Good example:

Me: Amal Premier carb specific you your Commando, all with #19 pilot jets, delivered in the US: $455.00
Bonneville Shop: Amal Premier 32mm generic Commando carb, delivered in the US: $693.00
Steadfast: Amal Premier 32mm generic Commando carb, delivered in the US: $559.99.

Sadly, I'm not surprised...it's not like there is any interest in these bikes by young people. Sure, there are a few but from a society-wide point of view, there are basically none. Pretty much anytime I see a group of motorcycle riders at a pub/bar/restaurant/get-together, the VAST majority are baby-boomers.
