oil check valve warning

Started my fastback after sitting in the shop for almost a year due to some surgeries, etc. Started up fine but no oil pressure. Nice to have one of those little accessories like oil pressure gage! Anyway it has a check valve in the oil suction line. I still believe that a dry sump motor needs one or something else to get oil where it belongs, darn gravity! Anyway, we were in a hurry to ride so I pulled the check and it did not "rattle". Pull em and check em! A little WD-40 and it was good to go. Almost a disaster.

Any restriction placed in the suction side is a potential disaster. Don't hate me, hate the laws of physics :mrgreen:
 
Just more evidence in favor of against the grain hobot logic comparing dry sump cam lobe wear vs wet sump pre lube splash - essentially no other down side but very rare crank seal pop out which ain't a show stopper just messy primary till replaced. Glad you caught it and wonder about your pensive sense tolerance on each and every start from now on...
