Hi

Contacted Dave on Friday & he has Commando shafts in stock for a £125. Homeslice? dont know if you still need one?

I have a problem with selection. It is at the selector shaft spindle end. Although I am not happy with the gearchange pedal or the cranked rod (too much slop)
It will select but is stiff. Under load it will pop into first, I can find neutral, pop into second but not third. You can hear the spring click but not between second & third. I have changed the springs but no difference. Found wear in the bushes in the inner & outer covers, so have ordered spares. No playtime for me next weekend, if the parts come I might try it out at a sprint just to make sure.

all the best Chris

Hi Hobot

This is Daves gearbox for Nortons. It uses a 5 speed Triumph internals. However Dave makes a new mainshaft for this with a Norton clutch end.
Homeslice reported that there were none available. Dave makes them in batches & has some in stock now.
I had to move my box forward to fit it in the frame & I had to weld a washer on the end of the clutch centre as the shaft is Dommie style, ie no Commando circlip & spacer.

Ok thanks for more education on jumping fences to keep a gear box intact. There was mention of 'special' mainshaft sought some months ago - likely this one but didn't know was not a Norton part. Knowing what I do now, might buy 2 of them while the gettin is ripe.

Good to know. I was looking into them in 2005. When they were unavailable, I went to a Quaife, and have now gone with a TT Industries box (and won't look back!).

I think Dougie McRae runs the Nourish box on his racer. I will let him know.
