Not that I was ever a fan....

I agree that just because 99% are not a part of a specific minority does not automatically mean they are offended by them / it.

And I think you’re question is super relevant:

But I think it’s relevant for a different reason. It is usually asked in an ‘woke’ context it in terms of asking how this affects the majority regarding their views on the woke minority who feel victimised. And that is a fair question.

But, more and more, the question applies in the opposite way. The minorities themselves are often NOT displaying empathy, respect, etc in their attitude to the majority. And it is THIS that causes a backlash.

I firmly believe that the VAST majority of that 99% could give a flying f*ck what any one individual does. BUT when those minority individuals start imposing their thinking on others, when they start saying things like ‘if you’re not an ally, you’re an enemy’ etc, then folk are gonna push back. I really don’t think it’s rocket science.

Interesting fact: in my local biker meet there’s a person who’s fairy regular there, he’s ex military and lifelong biker who decided to become a she. And you know what, although most people are surprised when they hear the story for the first time, no one gives a f”ck, he / she has NEVER had any aggro that I’m aware of.

Why? Because he / she quietly goes about their business in their own way, not forcing their opinions on others.

All we gotta do, as we always have, is learn to ‘live and let live’ and stop imposing on others.

And yes, I couldn’t agree more about erring on the side of Jordan Petersons views. Anyone who hasn’t read his book ‘12 rules for life’ should do so.
Don’t disagree with most of that FE, except to say that it is clearly way more complicated that we have covered here. Example:

Is it these minority groups themselves (say the trans community) that are directly ‘imposing their thinking’ on others as you indicate, or is businesses, organisations, political parties etc. advocating in the groups name for their own purposes.

Is the situation overblown - has anyone here actually been directly impacted by any person or group in any way. I have’nt. I really don’t consider having your favourite beer temporarily re-branded to be the best example.

The majority influence is undoubtedly to be found in the political sphere - the liberal left advocating wokeness, whilst the right weaponise it. Whipping everybody into a fervour until they ‘push back’, aided of course by the media.

I’m just not sure that it’s as simple as blaming the minority group themselves.

I believe you have hit the nail squarely FE.

So the recent failed bud light advertising was to influence younger drinkers to increase sales

And this failed campaign was to boost recruitment numbers.....

Clearly pushing this agenda at the majority ain't working !!

So much for a combat ready 7th fleet...worst of all part of the theatrical performance by this sailor was allowed to be done on a naval vessel which breachs code UCMJ...Admiral Gilday has some answering to do...
and John Paul Jones will be turing in his grave....

Breaches code in the UCMJ?

I'm sure you know what I mean ?
Don’t know much about how the US does things at an admin/discipline level Shane, but there is most definitely a requirement to regulate use of the ever pervasive social media. I mean, what could possibly go wrong!!!

Not sure it applies to the ‘Digital Embassador‘ story as it appears to be sanctioned. I’m pretty open minded, but that seems an ill fated initiative, to say the least! I’m guessing they didn’t consult the Marine Corp:oops:!!

Sanctioned as in ‘authorised’, so disciplinary action is a mute point I guess.

Consult the USMC (joking), as in I wonder what the ‘hoorah!’ battle cry boys would think about it!

Breitbart though Shane? But you don’t trust the MSM?

Breitbart is one of many publisher/articles with the same reporting that are just as susceptible to be sued for defamation like any other paper..opps

Back to the subject of beer
I have 24 of these offensively labelled (IMHO) beers - nice taste though - pity!
Lucky that, as well as crap judgement, they also use crap glue.
Cheers

The only diversity in beer that I want is a different guest real ale in my local pub every week.
When it comes to enjoying the “ real thing “ a pint of Theakstons Old Peculiar hits my G Spot !
Taking it like a man ?
I presume this relates to the high price of ales these days
🤠
