Not a shimmy, not a shake. What is it?

One pretty bike. Try describing the lumpiness clunk thingy with more detail as to when and how it occurs or goes away or whatever.Stopped raining here after 3 wks.,goin' trout fishin' for browns today, finally. 2 Rallys this summer , one up at Georgian Bay and one near Woodstock , N.Y. Hmm... maybe the fork springs are binding up or rubbing internally ?

Torontonian - The bumpy ride problem was due to the front tire not being seated correctly. It is being fixed today so maybe tonight I can report back. I'm quite sure the front tire is the problem in this case.

Thanks,
Ben

And before anyone says anything; I know, its another black and gold roadster. I picked out a black with tiny tiny metal flake in it. I like it.

Are you kidding??? Your bike is absolutely gorgeous. In fact, your set-up (or a version of it) is what I'm going to do to my bike when my body can't take the full cafe position any more.

Well thanks fellas, I sure think shes pretty.

I'll be getting the front wheel back on tonight hopefully and see if the problem is fixed.

cmessenk - I think I might pull the clip ons back just a bit, I feel like I'm reaching some. I'll have to see what kind of angles I get. Haven't ridden it very far yet so I don't know what the long term effects are.

Hopefully good news later!

Ben

In my bike's earlier life (pre-1986 crash) I had Clubman bars installed with the Dunstall fairing. They offered a bit more of an upright riding position...only drawback was that I had to cut about 6" off of the fairing's upper "wings" and the windshield to enable enough clearance for the master cylinder. In the present day, I run Tomeselli clip-ons, but it does get a bit uncomfortable after 150 miles or so....for that, there's always a couple of Advils at the end of the day!

Got the wheel back with the tire put on correctly tonight. Put it on and went for a run around town and everything seemed good. So I went for about a half hour ride out of town. It was awesome. You guys were right, the bead on the front tire wasn't set and that's what was causing the bumpy ride. It was nice and smooth tonight.

I've been checking things and tightening exhaust nuts and all that business. Everything seems in order except for a small primary leak. I put a new o-ring in it, but when I stop after riding it drips about 8 or 10 times then stops. It's definitely leaking at the joint and not at any of the caps or plugs. I might have the fixing nut over-tight.

Also I have to correct the Acewell electric speedo and tach. Wheel diameter is wrong b/c the speed is way off and therefore my odometer and trip meters are way off, which basically means I don't have a gas gauge. That won't take long to fix though.

I guess I'm just excited. Can't believe its "done".

Thanks again guys,

Ben

Edit: cmennsk- it seemed pretty comfortable tonight, but I was thinking about everything else other than being comfortable.

That Corbin sex seat will let you know how thin and hard it is once the honeymoon wears off.

Don't assume drips off primary case are primary leaks. Check head, forks and tranny shaft too. ATF in there helps diagnosis this a bit easier unless of course its in tranny too. Putting goop on the primary is like a gal wearing a girdle, helps improve strangers views but you know how ya is cheating...

Can't get more real motorcycle than what ya are showing some of us up with : )

After making sure the 2 primary cases are properly shimmed to sit flat against each other you can grease the o -ring rubber band. Plus the rubber band has a cast or join the 2 ends up together point or line that is not perfectly smooth so oil can get out there so fit this up at top of case. Yes one lovely machine. Caught my limit , 5 browns in fast water, my buddy bagged 3.
