I am thinking about getting the Norvil replacement Isolastics (front 066130A and rear 066131A) for my 69 S. I don't understand how this replacement can fit in all models. As I understand, somewhere around 71 or 72 they changed the front engine mounting so one side was the same as the other. Since mine has different spacing left and right, how is this compensated for with the Norvil Isolastics? Or is it that the abutments are different on my front than the newer models? I just don't want to spend $180 plus shipping to find out that it won't work. Are the Norvil Isolastics available anywhere in the US or CAN? Or are these Isolastics just for the Mark3 Commandos?

Norvil does have a drop in kit for earlier bikes. the 75 was the only year that came stock with vernier type. norvil changed the dimension I think on the left abutment but as with most of this stuff it usually takes a little fine tuning to fit. I did a rod link on my front mount so I no longer have to maintain it or worry if it is to loose or tight.

Windy,

I remember speaking to you about this modification at the 3 State Ride a couple years ago.

Could you refresh my memory with some details? Only the front mount changed to rod linkage?

So far I have the head steady and the front mount tied with rod links. one of these days I want to make a rear kit also. the front has a tie bar that clamps on both down tubes and a tab made of 3/4 stock that bolts on the engine at the drive side top mount bolt hole. The rod link runs to each side so the engine is positively held in a left-right position. Just think, no more having to stay on the adjustment as the PTFE washers wear and eventually crumble than you have to rebuild the mount.

Do you have any plans to do the three state this year? 2010 will be the tenth year and Gordon wants to do a week long event and work it from my campground through the week with daily rides to see more of the aria.

Thanks. Cool mod. Unique & practical.

I'd like to do the 3 State ride again. Great roads and scenery.

I would really like to see a picture of your upgrade to the front iso.
