I've the bar's decal on my clinic window from when it was in stone court yard setting. Moved now to a 2nd story place in case you're in the area. Jeffrey Powers used to hang on on NOC and BI lists. hobot now a vapor'r

Norton's is a British style pub, in the upstairs just off the Plaza de Armas. It's named after a British motorcycle, and there's lots of biker stuff all over the place. They have pool, darts, and a good atmosphere. Good prices, casual dress, and if it's not too cold, a nice view of the Plaza from their balcony. ... But like anywhere in Cusco, there's a lot of smoke (which I hate!)

The Norton Rat's is set up as somekind of Biker's Bar as you might find somewhere in the American Midwest.

The place is full of music of every description. The variety of restaurants and bars is amazing, from Paddy's Irish Pub, to Norton's Rat Bar (run by a transplanted American and a Londoner who met here and shared a love of Norton Commandos) every kind of food can be found. Lots of indigenous people selling wares on the street and many playing the traditional pan flute. The place is wonderful.

We said good-by to some other Adventure Riders from Brazil, and to Cusco. I really liked Cusco and would return to explore more of the ruins nearby. The city was a delight and we spend most evenings with other riders in Norton Rat bar and restaurant. Started by a gringo it is a popular place for riders. There is a book to sign and add your name and story to posterity.
We rode out of Cusco and almost immediately climbed to 12,500' where we stayed the whole day. We rode from 8 to abut 230 deciding to stop in Puno instead of one of the little tough border towns.

Been told his lease was renewed a few yrs. ago in the Zocalo ,also he owns a guesthouse situation now very close to the 2 nd highest waterfall in the world. Machu PIccu now processes about 2500 tourists a day I was told just yesterday and many movie stars have recently visited. Cablecar, paved road tourbuses in tandem, and the Inca Trail with enforced fees no thanks for this seasoned traveller yet the real Peru very much on my list. All hearsay.

Stumbled on the place 2007 when I was on holiday there, couldn't believe it as I noticed a sign pointing to it in the Norton script. Went there a couple of times for a beer and had lunch there but never got to meet the owner as he was always out when I went. Interesting place with lots of photo's around the place of Nortons and the I.O.M etc and he did have a big Green/yellow parrot in a cage. Bought the only T-shirt they had left which was the display one which was too small but a nice souvenir however.

I also bought a too small shirt which I gave away about a year ago to someone on the forum. Cusco (or Cuzco) is a very nice city, nice to walk about and drink in the local culture. BTW, the best restaurant IMOHO is Heidi`s

Wish I'd seen this thread before going there. I just got back from South America and ran into the Norton Rats Pub in Cusco's town square purely by accident!

It was morning so the place was dead, and the bar girl wouldn's sell me one of their Tee shirts without the owner being there ... as it happens, he doesn't spend much time there.

Norton Rat was started by Jeff Powers, an American traveler who tumbled for a local lady. Used to be a book on the bar that travelers signed when passing thru, back before Cuzco got snazzy. Cuzco is still a nice visit, snazzy or not, but everything changes. Jeff was killed on his bike in 2013 when a truck crossed in front of him.

I' recall seeing similar books in many places I was at in South America, and I'm pretty sure Jeff's book is still there .

That is a big ol' Arizona state flag right in the middle, an Arizona tie in as well?
