anyone know the correct length of the Tank strap (out to out) of the centre strap?
I purchased some time ago a strap frome Fair Spares which is 24" in length , but appears to be too short for the International, and also too short for a Domi 99 with wideline tank

How many gallons is your tank? They appear to vary.

I have heard the International is larger than a regular Dominator of the same year, but my Domi tank and the International appear to be the same dimensions. Every place I compare measurements seems to be the same. Not sure of the exact capacity. Neither bike came with a tool tray where the strap fastens, so am in the dark as to what will actually fit properly

Apart from the obvious differences the inter tank has like the 3" filler neck and the different base to clear the cambox and downdraught TT carb, the length is the same as a dommie tank.Where the extra capacity is gained on the inter is by a different shape at the front of the tank.Where as the dommies tank has a gentle curvature back around the steering head area, the inter tank has a more " bullnose" shape at the front.Really hard to see the difference looking at side on photos, but quite obvious if the two tanks are sitting next to each other.Mind you because of the scarcity of inter tanks there have been more than a few dommie tanks "converted" with larger filler neck and modified base.
Cheers.

Thanks-Have checked the tanks and can see the difference now. The Inter tank is correct, and should be chromed, but is painted. Looks nice, so will leave for time being. It seems to me the 24" strap will be a little short. Any ideas?

Depending where you have taken the measurements on the strap,it may be a little short. The toolbox with the bracket inside is an integral part of the tank mounting. My tank strap was a bodge up because the toolbox was missing, but now that I've got the correct inter toolbox I will make a strap. My measurements put it at 25" from centre to centre. There is someone on eBay selling them for widelines complete with all the fittings.

If you are unable to get what you want, then I suggest you obtain some alloy strip and rivets and make your own, all you need is a hacksaw, drill and hammer, plus some suitable diameter to wrap round. But getting materials on this coronavirus lockdown might be the biggest challenge.
Are you sure you don't just need a longer bolt that will "stretch " to your tank?
