I wonder have any forum members had experience of using any type of tank sealing product in a GRP tank, which has lasted reliably over an extended period of time, during which the bike the tank is fitted to is actually being used?

Seems to me that while these products may well work in laboratory conditions in terms of being resistant to Efuels, that high and low level resonance, problems with proper preparation, and sealer film thicknesses which are far from uniform, will certainly mean nearly all these products are likely to fail within a relatively short period of time, when they are being used inside a fuel tank.

The tank liner debate is sort of like an oil thread, much discussion as to their ability to hold up to modern fuels. I don't know what a GRP tank is, but my only experience with a tank liner was once when I put cream inside of my steel roadster tank 9 years ago and it is still going strong as of today. I believe prepping the tank is the key. Though the cream has held up the paint around the neck of the tank has lifted and peeled off. I used cheap auto touch up to fill it in and it resists gas. You'll get a dozen arguments the other way about the half dozen other sealers. There is a local indian guy, as in indian motorcycles, that does an ongoing study on local gas and sealers, along with viton and palstic float bowl material and I believe he has successfully used the silver paint they use to paint water towers with his tests as a tank liner. I will not line another tank due to the horrible stories I hear now days and I don't trust manufacturing techniques in recent years since everything seems to be made in cheap china.

GRP = glass reinforced plastic = fibreglass.
I sealed my glass tank by buying a steel one. :D

The Pre-war BMW guys are using some stuff that resembles "Red-Lead" and seemingly having good results with it, I will find out exactly what it is and post it here.
