I had a call today from Marie at the factory , my bike was booked in on April 9th for a service ( didn’t happen obviously) & this was a follow up call saying things are starting to happen & service slots are available from next week , also parts enquiry’s to are active , the call I received was from a mobile number not in my contacts ( cell phone )as many of them are still working from home .
With no hotels atm I’ll pass atm & prob go Krazy Horse which is much closer & in reach for me for a while u wait service .
So this has gotta be good news , get your warranty work booked in chaps .

Excellent, mines ok for a while but thinking of the MOT in Feb, I cannot be arsed to take off the shorties with the "Race Only" tags on the inside, the birthplace of the bike should pass it surely, as long as i put that thumping great reg plate back on.

I didn't realise but I just confirmed continued ownership for at least another 8 months

I have made contact with Carmen about rocker shaft bushes and she has made contact with me and looking in to it, looks as thou things are moving.

What is the best way to contact the factory, email or are they operating a land line?

I ground my tags off but you could put a bit of high temp tape over the tags, MoT testers are only allowed to report on what they see and aren't allowed to remove anything for a close inspection, including tape/stickers etc. My local MoT station is 'bike friendly +++' and the tester firmly believes in loud pipes saves lives, my XR with supertrap race cans passed with flying colours last year :)

Not sure the factory is an MOT test station is it ?

Can you ask One of them to phone me so I can book my bike in for a full service and MOT? I'm on 07711 682342 factory is an answer machine at the moment. Thanks guys in advance...David Sheppard 961 sport

On twitter today Norton are advertising for staff. nortonmotorcycles.com/company/careers

I'm booked in at the factory next week for servicing my 961 sport and a bit of speedo/fuel warning light work. Thanks Guys and Marie for phoning. They don't do MOTs though as the technician doesn't have that certification, I don't ever remember that being offered previously, but I asked. She doesn't know if the new owners will start to offer that. But its great news that we can be looked after again I'm not a great mechanic and would rather pay.. Quite a lot it has to be said.. to have it taken care of. Social distancing is in operation at Norton so I may only be allowed to peer in the windows but I look forward to being there next week!

Bike collected this morning serviced and polished up (you don't get that anywhere else! thanks Norton!) and all done as requested a few other Bikes in there as well but mine was the first one serviced by the new company. Lovely run back to my works in Halesowen this morning slightly over the speed limit most of the time! Its only a slow re start not a lot going on yet... but parts and service are available. Assured the 961 has a future despite the rights to building the engine have been sold, they can still build new bikes so the guys say I'm not altogether clear about that.

Great to hear - wow another bike in the Bham area - I'm normally commuting into the Jewellery Quarter - they're beginning to get a bit common now for my taste........

What is the cost of an annual service at Norton? I'm booked in for next week but just received the pro-forma and my bottom jaw dropped!

Hi
Am trying to get an annual service and first MOT on my 961 mk 2. I have emailed, left a voice message and had no response at all.
The number to ring for service on the website is Clem Croft’s old one 01332812119.
Is there any one there??

I think most staff are working from home, I doubt the old land line numbers are being answered. My bike is booked in, give Marie a call or email...

I don't think they are ding MoT's right now.

Today was the day for my factory service and it just didn't stop raining! Met a great bunch of welcoming lads and lasses, offered a hot coffee, even a mini tour around the new layout, touched the 'Ranger'/'Atlas'/'Superlights' (CF frame and ally frame), a V4 and one of Kenny Dreers flatslide concept bikes..... yes Norton's heart is beating and with a strong pulse! I had the CF chain guard fitted, it feels far, far more rigid than the steel one so fingers crossed and yes, the stores area looks well stocked. I was told that original suppliers are all lining up to be signed up and the 961 is still perceived to be a cherished asset worthy of refining, and keeping it one step ahead of any upcoming regulations for as long as possible.

If anyone is thinking of going to the factory be aware that Park Lane from Castle Donington village is CLOSED. After a few helpful clues from locals I was able to make my way to the airport and pick up brown signs for the 'Priest House' which got me back on track.

Tomorrow will be clean-up day, the shite on the roads was unbelievable, the rear end twitched several times on diesel and even managed to get the front end to lose grip for a brief heart-stopping moment.... roll on Summer!
