I don't know why, but I bought another 73 commando today. Price was decent and it came with a steel roadster tank, roadster seat, an interstate tank and an interstate seat. It only came with interstate covers and It has peashooters instead of the low mount interstate exhaust, but I can buy the right exhaust later. I don't plan on riding it right now and plan on repainting and doing a few sensible upgrades before it goes road bound. I would have much rather had a 70/71 750, but this came along and made me buy it.

the silver one is the recent addition I guess you have to click the picture. I can't insert pics in a message.

:D she only has 25 miles on a complete rebuild. The paint is terrible, but I can repaint in time. I has a lot of nice parts and was redone well mechanically which is all I really cared about. I can't decide if I like the interstate set up or not. The tank is friggin humongous.

If the tank is steel, I'll trade you for it. Parts, paint, whatever you need.

PM if interested.

Looks very nice.
May I ask what they go for on the west coast these days?
Mine ran about $4200 in July 04 unrestored but running rider on east coast.

Luckily I haven't seen a good deal on one for a while. Since the recession I've been avoiding CL.

The Interstate tank doesn't get in the way though, and the 300 mile range really annoys friends who struggle to manage half that :)

After putting the interstate tank on the new bike, I think I like it. I am going to order the right exhaust system for it and ride it that way. I think I'll like having a roadster and an interstate.

I'd agree that you got a pretty good deal. I paid $3100 for a sound but unrestored 73 850. Since then I have done paint, top end, etc, etc.
