For those who were following the thread in the other section entitle Dusting Sidecars, my 1948 and 1949 AJS Model 18's arrived late Friday night. I bought these from a gentlemen in Iowa sight unseen. I really didn't have decent pictures and even less info on the bikes. Well it was well worth it. I paid $8500 for these two bikes, including a spare motor, magneto, books, tools, etc.
The 1948 is essentially all there (Except for a missing dynamo). It was last in running order in 2003 when it passed its MOT in England. It turns over and has a spark (But a very crusty fuel tank.) The 1949 has an Australian Dusting Sidecar. The 1949 is in great shape. It even has the complete tool kit with tools. It has spark and won't take much to get going. I need to pull the carbs and flush the tank.
I am officially out of room in my garage. -which is a good thing!
