New to 961?

Hi Guys, thanks for all your help on this bike you are providing. I just bought second hand bike wich seems to have been on your garage one time, most of upgrade are there. But still engine doesn't run properly. I'm in Canada and bike too still but you are a little far from me. Could I order your tools ?
Hello and welcome. This is an old thread, and I don't think Richard posts on here any more (sadly), so I would send him a personal message if I were you ( top right of the page on the envelope icon). To answer your other question, unless you are a VIP (paying) member, you cannot post images directly, so ideally upgrade your membership (it's well worth it), or put your pictures on a hosting service and post links to them here.

Thank you for your prompt response, I see posts from Richards everywhere here, so I was sure he was here ^^'. I emailed him, thanks. I see there is still people around and posting. So I think I am in the right place to learn on this bike.

Oh yes, you are definitely in the right place! But It’s a shame that Richard Coote doesn’t post on here any more, as he and his Dad have a lot of 961 knowledge. In fact he doesn’t even appear to be a member any more, so I don’t think sending him a p.m. will work.

@RnObx67 What is the problem with your bike anyway?
Hi Cliffa, idle didnt stay put. Even when warmer. Then I ride it and it start to do it also when slowing down, engine almost shutting down, then in few km stops at a red light. when I restart it it starting to shout (not sure of the term) like it was misfiring. I was at 1 km home, so just push to reach it. Now when I try to start it, its misfiring like shooting with a firearm, so I just want to do a check up. where to start ?

Has anyone had any luck with a battery cut off switch to rectify the drain on the battery? Mine won't even hold a charge overnight anymore. It'll start, but not for long. I'm going to install the bosch coil pack and new battery. It looks like the starter kit is out of stock and so are the wires. I'm also contemplating the cut off switch because i don't care about the clock. If I add a cut off switch, does that help solve this problem? Thank you for any advice

If you pull the optimate/clocks fuse you can gauge the parasitic draw from the instruments. This should be done with an ammeter so you can measure how much current. This is easy to do at the battery terminals when you replace your battery. Be sure to check if the system is charging at this time and if you don’t have a battery pigtail install one now.

I do have a pigtail for charging. Do you think a cutoff switch could rectify the draw? I just don't want to make anything worse.
