If you work on your own bike, do something today that you will thank-yourself later for.

- Go to your local store and get iridium plugs
- Get some PROGRIP grips (it's amazing how much a $15 item can improve your riding experience on the Norton)

Go to the CNW website and order the following;
- Bosch Coil
- ONE07 Racing Wires
- ONE07 Clutch Jam (You will need this one day)
- ONE07 Transmission vent
- ONE07 Gear Jam (very handy little tool)
- ONE07 Gear Puller (Unless you have a small one already)
- ONE07 Battery Mat
- ONE07 Starter Solenoid Rebuild Kit - optional purchase now but you will need it one day. (Unfort. if you have a low battery, the starter does not have enough power to turn the engine and the solenoid contacts flicker and rapidly wear out which makes starting it harder and harder to do each time. If they completely wear out, then this tool replaces and sets new contacts without removing the starter from the bike. Once you see whats involved to remove the starter, you will be glad we figured this out for you.. :)

- Then upgrade the ignition and add the vent.
- If you have close to 1,000 miles, do a head torque.
- Adjust your Butterfly Stop (IDLE SCREW - that's not really an idle screw the ECU does that) Read my manual carefully on this and make sure you do it right or your idle will climb way over 2,000rpm when the bike gets warm which could cause an accident. PS - You also need a locking nut.
- Contact Jonathan Reece -Skeleton Cycles DENVER and send him your ECU for a remap and re BIN file.

IF YOU DO ALL THESE THINGS, You will have the Norton 961 experience that is extremely satisfying and you will no longer be thinking you need to fix anything to make the bike better!!

Richard, awesome products you've produced and sell through CNW. Over the last year, I've installed the Bosch Coil, wires and just recently your vent kit. The vent kit immediately fixed the oil leak issue I had where oil was being pushed out of the grommet on top of the left side engine cover. That fixed the obvious pressure issue I've heard about that would also blow the starter gasket. I'll be buying the rest of your tools shortly. My bike is well sorted now except the cush washer issue in the rear hub that I plan to resolve with upgraded machined material.

Hello Norton961 , I would like to hear more about the cush rubbers (dampers) in the rear hub that you will be machining. Is this what you are referring to ?

I've noticed that some dampers of this type have metal (not sure if aluminum or steel) sleeves. Wonder why these do not.

Ah gotcha. Putting an order together and ensuring I dont leave anything out.

I'm going to add these sensors to the list. Get genuine BOSCH. There are NO substitutes!!!! There are plenty of fake Bosch knock offs. Do Not buy from eBay. Go to a Porche / Benz / BMW Dealer if you're unsure.

Cam sensor
Bosch 0232103037

Head Temp sensor
Bosch 0280130026

Hello all. Newbie to Norton. Have a '16 Commando 961 SF being delivered next week and ordered these parts from CNW this week.
- Bosch Coil
- ONE07 Racing Wires
- ONE07 Transmission vent
(Also ordered Iridium plugs)
After reading some more forum posts, I get the feeling that the '16 may have a factory Transmission Vent on it. So did I order the ONE07 unnecessarily, or am I mistaken about the factory part? Thanks! Looking forward to being part of this forum.
Kevin

Hi Richard,
Have spent the day upgrading.
New ignition coil
New 107 leads
Irridium plugs
Transmission vent kit
Bosch cam shaft sensor
Bosch head temp sensor
Pro-grips.

Haven't been for a ride yet as it's pissing down but it fired up straight away, but it's idling a bit fast (1400). Not sure if it will settle down once its fully warmed up. I guess we'll see.

Cheers
Paul

The original lead was quite crushed where it went under the tank bracket.

For someone who has yet to install some of these recommended upgrades I am also interested in some response to this thread for the benefit of all of us 961 owners

Thanks

Let me reply. I would say out the gate the 961 is great. But for some, they want perfection. Ignition upgrades and sensor replacements only enhance the Norton experience. Its not necessarily required for everyone. The bikes are great but better if you do some mods. Hope this helps

Is there a Bosch replacement for the air temp sensor in the airbox ?
Last one to do then I'm all Bosch sensors .
