OK Jackson 5 everybody wants to see your photos of the housing you made.

Here's my answer to Labs question above about the breather fitting 850 MK3s with the original prestolite starter. I just started making angled threaded fittings for the Mk3s with original starter to replace the original tube breather - plenty of room now. See one way reed valve breather below (with BMW stainless reed). The same basic breather fits all other versions of Commando (& Atlas) but in different locations.
Photo supplied by customer (thanks Mark).

For those who have the time, ability and inclination to make things for fun, making your own reed valve breather is a nice pet project.

For those lacking one, or all of the above, it’s worth reminding here that there are at least 3 suppliers of bolt on reed valve breathers for Norton engines and numerous suppliers of ‘plug n play’ in line reed valve breathers.

Here's a new inline/offset version with 3/8" barbs I just added when a 961 owner asked for it (edited).

Before that a 961 owner adapted the lower rear sump version to his modern Norton.

Pictures please Jim! And feedback from the owner too.

There’s a bunch of guys over on the 961 forum that’d be interested in this set up...

I just sent it to him and I'll ask him for a photo. Give him some time and we'll see if he responds (edited).

Hi Eddie, i have one on the way from Jim for my 961 but it is still in transit. The postal pigeons take a while to flutter their way down here, and when they do they will find that NZ is shut for Easter and then ANZAC day next week so i may not see it for a week or so yet.
Then it will join the queue - I pulled the head off my ES2 yesterday (exhaust port threads :(), so have the opportunity to turn that into a deferred maintenance project and i have my 850 primary apart.... It's nice to have things to do.
Will update once i get to it. :)
Edit - nearly forgot, the 16H is in a friends shed waiting for me to get there to spend a day pulling the girders down so he can turn up some spacers on his lathe, then reassemble etc.

Sorry boys and girls but for $195 I'll have to stick with my Motor Mite vacuum valve @ $5.95 I just really don't have that kind of excess cash around.
Ride On(the cheap)
Dave

Motor Mite valves are a placebo, at best, when used as as a crankcase breather valve. They do work well for a brake vacuum booster check valve.

Jim,

Does that bolt right up to the Combat case?
