No, sorry if I was unclear. I opened the sump drain and drained what was in there. Then I left it open with a measuring cup underneath. 4 days later there was 90 Ml (a little less than 3 OZ) in the cup so it wet sumped about 3/4 OZ EVERY day (24 hours).

How do you know it wasn't additional residue oil from within the engine and not from the tank? How long when you "opened the sump drain and drained what was in there" let that drain?

Can I assume you were pleased with such little oil coming out?

Does it really matter? it's next to bugger all anyway so he will be happy with that. I would be more interested to find out how much oil you would find with the same test SD if you ever get your bike finished and on the road

Yes, though, of course, I'd be more pleased with none! :)

But since I had carefully surfaced the oil pump, I tend to think that that amount of wet sumping is about as good as it can get.

My brother ran this motor for a while after he blowed his up. I think he said it didn't wetsump very much. It's a 750 with a MkIII timing cover. And you're right, I can't wait either to get this thing running. Sadly it's not a matter of not having enough time. :(
