Neutral switch wiring.

I need to rewire the neutral switch on my 75 Commando. The bike has a new wiring harness and the color codes are all over the place. The still original wires coming off the switch on the transmission are: green and green/brown. I need to wire this switch up to the neutral light.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It should work either way but green should be the wire coming from the neutral light to the switch. The other wire should be red or at least plug into harness red. So there should be a harness green with a red in that area.

Note that the wiring colours for the console lights on the Mk3 wiring diagram are wrong as they are the same colours as the harness, therefore the neutral light wires should be white (from the ignition switch) and green.

I am still doing something wrong. I tested the switch on the transmission, it is working. I have run 2 wires directly from that switch to the dash. The neutral light has red and black wires, I ran power directly and the light works. Now I need to attach the wires from the switch to the light and the ignition switch. This is where I am stuck.
I am missing something....

This is the std harness colourised, note the white wire from ignition switch to neutral light, green to neutral switch and then a red to ground.

Neutral switch wiring.

I have run 2 wires directly from that switch to the dash.

But that's not how it's wired, as I said, only the (usually) green wire from the dash light feeds the switch, the other switch wire connects to ground (normally red). The other neutral light wire (usually white) connects to the ignition switch (terminal 2) as the diagram above.
