My barn find lives again.
It was last licensed in 94.
Some flushing and tweaking. Cleaned the points, fully charged battery and there is spark!
By some magic, 2, yes 2 kicks and it came to life. Needs much work yet, but it does run.
Leaks like crazy, I have to change the side cover gasket.
Cant ride it yet, the throttle needs to be replaced and the clutch is stuck fast.
Any tricks to free up the clutch shy of dis-assembly?
Sorry but I cant contain my excitement!
It sounds great!

Oh my you found a yellar HyRyder like my buddy Wes's burnt orange one, very cool.
It if still has the old oil slotted pistons could be trouble but at least you would have hidden hydraulic leak to catch ya out, just Pop Eye grip for whoa.

You may be able to free clutch to fine function like I was able to on a P!! dragster starting in N and then push it off hop on snick 1st and go WOT and hope before end of the block it broke free. Some will do it against a wall. Saner folks open primary and sand em off as not really that big a job and need to check chain condition and tension so it sags ~1/2" when cold as tighens alot hot.

It it don't idle back well suspect the advance is worn to stick open.
Look at it run after dark too. If ya over fill as fill plugs, dip stick or manual imply it will just make a big mess until seeking its natural levels to learn. If forks stick suspect rusted to tubes spring and likely oil gone to just rusty water. Get a good propane torch before attempting to remove about anything on that ancient treasure.

Closest we guys get to giving birth, congregates and welcome to the misery of an street orphan to civilize.

Great!! I bet it sounds good with those "silencers" on it. You can probably hear it all the way to Springfield. Leaking can be fixed but may require dis-assembly. Most likely, you will have to take the clutch parts out, better to do that anyhow, it's not a big job, but get or make a clutch spring compressor. Don't try to take it off without one. The plates are probably rusted together. Soak in vinegar or Evapo-rust after wire brush.

Take your time and enjoy it.

Its actually pretty quiet. It does sound sweet though. Some smoke coming from the left cylinder. I hope the rings will unstick and seat with some run time.
I now feel much better about putting some more dollars and time into it.
Looks like a clutch compressor is in my future. My goal for now is to get it in shape to ride. Cosmetics come later.
Thanks for all the help.
