So you weren't tempted by the powdercoated one at twice the price...
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Vintage-1954 ... 1479950434

Or the dismantled one at half the price...

I rang the seller,he was looking for $15000 + for it (S7 deluxe) that bike sold for around $5500 around 18 months ago in NSW.
The dismantled one is a 1948 S7 (1946 to 1948) hard to find parts for and have a reputation for being unreliable,it will be interesting to see the sale price.
Another one sold for $7113 a week or so back, there hadn't been any for sale for a long time then four pop up.

The one I purchased would be a prime restoration candidate since it is unmolested, has all metal bodywork and nothing is missing but that will not happen.
It will retain its character and remain as is bar a full service.
It seems by the posts on this website, diehard Norton folk have little interest in other marques.

Except that quite a number can be found on other forums,
posting enthusiastically about other marques. !
Anonymity is a 2 edged sword.
And this is primarily a Commando site...

I'm not really a trike fan, but Dennis' Suzook looks rather cool.

Whats the hole on the left headlight ear for?

It's a built-in holder for the obligatory (but shortly to be abolished) UK 'road tax' disc. Unfortunately they're not abolishing the tax, only the disc, the whole system has been computerised for some time, so the requirement to display a disc as 'proof' has become unnecessary.

This is the 'Other Classic Motorcycle' section of the site so some pictures and photos of a lovely old Sunbeam are entirely appropriate.

Sunbeam's etc

Not hard to see where the concept came from.
BSA had purchased Sunbeam and had designed the OHC engine prior to 1946,wars end they were given a BMW R75 to evaluate.

It has also been commented that there is a bit of a (smaller ?) Indian 4 look in there as well..... ?

Thanks LAB. Nice bikes guys

Sorry Dennis, but it's not cool and it's definitely not a bike - it's got three wheels. Trikes are vehicle number 4 in my list of vehicles which shouldn't be allowed out anywhere near a public road......vehicle number 1 is a car towing a caravan.

The Sunbeam arrived early Tuesday morning after its 1100 odd km trip from Melbourne.
I checked the fluids all was good,a graunching sound from the rear end turned out to be the tyre/tire touching the rear mudguard only (they have a bronze crown wheel)
Hooked the 6 volt battery up,a splash of fuel, tickle the Amal 276 and it fired up first kick. :D
It runs very nicely for being over 64 years old,the forks are a little harsh so will get a full service shortly,it has one of the smoothest gearbox's (1 up / 3 down) even when first is selected, nothing, not even a click.
