MKIII kicker?

A question about kicker arms.. my '74 has the dog leg shaped kicker as shown here on the right, known as a "MKIII kicker", (oldbritts.com image)




but there is no hole/spring/detent ball on mine, like the one in this oldbritts.com image, just the wave washer.


Think it has been replaced with a MKIII kicker along the way? Or was it a transitionary style?

The 850 Mk2A (and 1A) kick start lever doesn't have the ball and spring.

Otherwise the same shape/geometry as MKIII?

Never seen that. Transitory ? All MK 111 kickers have that ball n' spring methinks. New improvement ideas being slowly incorporated. I know by experience it's a bugger to refit the re- greased ball n' spring back in place.
