I'm in the process of changing out my throttle assembly and getting a new cable as well. My Commando has clubman drop bars and I am going to be using a Biltwell Whiskey throttle assembly. The carb is a VM34 mikuni with an Old Britt's °45 degree adjuster. My question is, what do you all think the approximate cable length on this setup would be? I've found it is about 35" with a VM34 and euro bars, but I'm not sure how much shorter it would be with clubman's. Thanks

God help me for answering to a MKIII issue, but I think I will get away with it this time.

I have recently made such adjustment to a cable for a VM38 on my 72. The sheathing from end to end, including the crimped ends is 36" with free cable out the end is 5 1/2" for a total of 41 1/2".

There is an adjuster 6" down from my throttle entry with 1 1/8" of adjustment if needed and this measurement is made with it screwed all the way in. With the cable installed, it is in the middle of adjustment and I do have the 45degree adjuster out the top of the carb.

I had a 2 cable throttle for the Amals and 2 full length cables. I used one of the cable for this VM38 and cut 1 1/4" of sheathing away the give me the 5 1/2 " of free cable.

I could surely cut it down an inch or 2 more as long as I maintain the 5 1/2" of free cable.

This info should get you close.
