well the original lower rubber brake hose on my mk3 is leaking fluid. Does anybody know where one could be purchased to fit the MK3 ? I really would like to convert to stainless braided for both the upper and lower hoses if I could find the correct fit for the Mk3 . any information would be helpful !! Thanks Hershey

Lots of shops can do this. Stock setup or mismatched brake components ? Because it's about matching the thread sizes if so. Where do you reside ? Will help with locality of shops. Yes switch to stainless hose as it resists expansions and pulsings. :)

Fittings are 3/8" UNF, 45 degree, 'bulkhead' length if the existing rigid pipes and brackets are used.

I bought replacement front & rear SS lines for my Mk III ready made from a chap on eBay, Goodridge Hose & maintained the original hard lines on the front. they were very reasonably priced, I can't find any seller info in my archive & realized they've been on for 10 years! I've no complaints, they fitted without issue (though I can see that I had other problems at the time!) . I'll try & have a look through my invoice box when I get home tonight. The only slight issue is that the rear line could do with being an inch or two longer to aid slinging the caliper out of the way when removing the rear wheel.

As L.A.B says, those fittings are still made and are well known in the Austin Mini restoration scene which is why one UK manufacturer has kept making them.

Apologies, its taken a while to check my receipts, not that useful I suspect.

I can't find an invoice but have a (poor) copy of an email from eBay, in summary the ebay seller was called shed_7 & they were based in Unit 3 Ladbroke Park, Warwick, CV34 5AN - unfortunately you can't see it on Google StreetView (an ebay search for shed_7, brought up, you guessed it.......sheds!).

"shed_7" (Unit 3 Ladbroke Park, Warwick, CV34 5AN) was L P Williams several years ago before Trevor Gleadall sold LPW to Phil Bargh in 2008 who moved the company to Lancaster.

I believe LPW changed hands again recently.

I found a shop in Hagerstown MD that replaced the old rubber hose by cutting off the factory crimp and reusing the factory fittings and replacing the rubber hose with a steel braided line. professional job and professional look for less than $30.00 per line !! Hell of a DEAL !!! My MK3 will now lock up the front wheel if needed. If anybody is interested the name of the company is L&L Hydraulics Hagerstown MD. phone ( 301-791-5986 ) . Very nice people to deal with !! Hershey
