So not too long ago I was cleaning up my swingarm for painting, came across something stamped onto the timing side of the swingarm. Wonder what it is?
I make it out as "27D2". Before sanding the top of the '7' was more visible. I remember jokingly thinking well, it is a "seven-D-two" year production
That was about a month ago. Now recently I was reading a bit on Greg Marsh's site when something jumped out at me in the 10th photo of this page:

The very same character string!! What the ???
The two bikes are about 400 or so serial numbers apart, both 208xxx Combats and are pretty much all original major components as far as I know.
Any guesses?
