Steve’s away so I can’t ask him, then I thought that one of the fine AN chaps or chapesses is bound to know the answer...

I want to order a crank case fixing kit for my Maney cases. I have a choice between 750, 850, mk111.

I’m fairly confident I don’t need the mk111. Does anyone know if I need the 750 or 850 fixings?

Steve did say to me that his cases were based on 1972 750..so i would imagine unf/unc

Yes, Standard '72 fixings, although it may be worth researching better nuts, i.e., ARP or similar

Surely the 72’ is BSF and Whit? And the 850 is UNF / UNC?

It’s the ARP kit I’m wanting to buy, but need to know 750 or 850...

i think the 72 750 is unf/unc ...but do not have thread gauges to check my Maney cases

I think you’re right about the unified threads Mike.

It appears that the long stud at the rear of the cylinders is shorter on the 850 cases compared to the Maney cases.

Thus I conclude that the Maney cases require the 750 fixing kit.

I bought an 850 fixing kit.....but caution....though you already seem to have identified the problem with that.

I had to ask Matt for a different length bolt for the back of the cases below the barrels. You are replacing a 3/8" UNC/UNF stud and nut. Yes UNC for the cases and UNF for the nut IIRC.

The standard 850 one does not even touch the threads!

The stud I was replacing was the right length, but I think Steve supplied it with the cases to keep them together for shipping!

I hadn't realised the 750 stud/bolt was that much longer.

You best solution is to contact Matt.

The flaw in that argument might be that they include the big sump strainer plug and the small magnetic plug, whereas the 200,000 series would not have had the strainer. But, Steve's cases do include the rear of case breather mounting of the '72 cases, and of course a breather mount on the rear of the timing chest!

Hi Steve, I am only assuming that the stud to the rear of the cylinder is longer on the 750. It could be a special Maney part as, like you, mine came with one to hold them together!
