Guy on Ebay selling a magneto, says he can tell it's rebuilt by it's "appearance". Here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LUCAS-MOTORCYCL ... 11&vxp=mtr
When a mag is rebuilt, it means someone has disassembled it and either rewound the armature or checked it on a machine at operating temperature to see if it's insulation is any good, also they replace the capacitor and check, clean and replace any bearings that are bad.
You definitely can not tell all that by looking at a mag from the outside. Anyone can clean up a mag and throw some points in it to make it look like the one this guy is selling. Worse, this mag looks like the typical retard with a glass bead blaster got hold of it, so who knows what sort of crap is in the monkey-works after that treatment, besides ruining it's original appearance.
