Just received a pair of new coils from Rex's Speed shop since I'm having no spark on my spark plugs. Thought I could use the old wires from the coil to the plug since the coils I had was Lucas items. Was I in for a surprise!! Now I understand why Rex's actually advertise terminal for these coils.
Can somebody wiser than me explain the reasoning for changing the inner diameter on the connection for the plug wire ?

Did you buy pvl coils or Lucas copies?

AFAIK all coil towers and distributor caps use the same size socket, as the wire terminals are universal. Can't the terminals be bent a bit to fit? They're usually pretty springy.

50-90's old style HV wire is typical 7mm . post war mags and coils both solid stranded wire and carbon/graphite laced fiberglass strands for resistor wire. I fabricate all my own HV wires. Because of the hv specific wire end clips the hole in the coil is bigger than 7MM

The newer fatter system uses 8mm, GM HEI etc nothing I own uses this type
By 2002 my ducati is direct coil on plug...no HV wire.
