I think some are being a bit thin skinned and precious on all this/him.

It's not like the world isn't full of DPOs or folks that have to do it their way despite best intentions of others and their.opinions, and no one was forced to read his thread. I certainly didn't always dip into it.

Yeah, he didn't listen to the Oldies' (daughters term) that well, and didn't like a certain vendors work. And might well have ADHD.

But all that said, I bet the lions share on this forum may have had some authority issues when first starting riding way back when.

And I certainly don't hear heaps of praise dumped.on Norvil....

All up, BFD.

So it was all down to a loose cranky nut after all? 🤣
...and the "THINGY"!!!🗣️
Not even in a bikers vocabulary!
📖

I agree, everyone here was being played. It was a fascinating lesson in DEVO.

Thanks LAB for letting the thread linger, crawl, stumble, walk for so long. Those that didn't like it, could simply not click on it (I had days like that, not wanting to read the ramblings).

Hopefully he will learn some humility along the way
I think he did really well getting as far as he did without a manual and never becoming a VIP member to help Jerry out a little
I can well remember the "oldies" coveting their knowledge, not all of them but the majority
So you had to learn yourself, read whatever you could
And break loads of stuff to learn for yourself
The internet has changed all of that

The worst of it is we will never know why the compression was so high!
At least Ash was right about the JH abilities to start the beast

What did the CR work out to in the end or the valve clearances ?...another broken thread...Or did i miss something
The guy that stuck the motor together years ago said the beast was stock.? 😁

I think it was more a kick problem than a high compression thing with him as for the Joe Hunt they throw out a big spark no matter how you kick, but it would have started a lot longer if he listen to advice, but it's hard telling fools what to do, I gave up trying to tell him what he was doing wrong with his JH set up and the amount of adjustments he was doing.
Some people just can't be told, maybe he has cooked his brain cells as he must have been on something.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink...is what my Father used to say

It's what WASN'T said, that had me believing he had no idea how, or the physical condition to to start the (again my perception) stock Commando.

How many people buy a Norton and after some time buy a ES kit because they give up on learning the knack of kicking, I learned the knack real quick at 17, skinny as a rake with chicken legs, technique is more important than how big you are, I still have chicken legs after 46 + years of kicking my Norton.
My Norton don't have a centre stand and the side stand is too short to use for kicking.

Let the Truth beknown...he purchased the bike and had it delivered in a van (FACT) I doubt he even test rode it.(mo) (most likely had been sitting around with stale fuel in it...problem no#1
The problem he has now is all the lighting indicators new front brake etc ..some of it will have to be removed and reconfigured to get a warrant and his other mods (brakes etc)with need
certification before he can register it...Unless he's LUCKY 🥴
R.I.P NORLUCK....THE END
