Look what I picked up - 66 Norton Atlas

Looks great!

I have the same stock mufflers on my 650SS and though I like the look of them, am constantly grinding them on the road when cornering hard.
The bike just flips so easily side to side and feels good at sharp lean angles (until the pipes ground!)

This reminds a little of the 850 Interstate that went out on test with a somewhat sporting rider shall we say,
and he took it back with large holes worn through the pipes. !

Tucking things up and out of the way should be a fair priority,
but if the factory setup - or repro pipes - don't allow this, then it gets a little tricky.

Lovely looking resto by the way...

Exactly the same problem I had on the featherbed , even with swept back exhaust, I just got a torch out and slightly bended the exhaust pipes inwards, and had to mount the silencers higher, directly bolting them to the pillion mounts.

When I built my 850 Featherbed in 1980 I got my exhaust made by a local muffler shop that had a mandle bender, he made the pipes tucked right into the frame and as high as they can be and upswept past the rear axle, got them chromed as the chrome shop was next door, I rode it with straight throughs for a week or 2 before cutting down to fit short unrestricked mufflers, I am still running these same header today after 34 years of hard riding and have never scraped them in all these years of hard riding through the twisties as well my foot pegs sit up high so no problem there.

Wayyyy off topic but is that a harbor freight motorcycle lift? Been looking at buying one and wanted a review from someone who has one. Great looking bike by the way.

Yes it is. Works just great. It is strong enough to lift my 850lb Harley too. One of my buddies has it as well and he is happy with it. You can't beat it for $299!
