I removed the lifter blocks from my 1970 750 barrels and noticed that the two bolts that hold the center plate have small holes in the thread end. Are these bolts to be safety wired or is loctite enough when I put it back together.

I just re ringed my 850 and when I removed the cyl those screws were safety wired with what appeared to be normal SS safety wire. When it went back together I duplicated it with SS wire. Whether SS was factory or not I don't know because this cylinder had been off before (and bored .020 over).

They came from the factory wired with steel safety wire.

Holes are for safety wire, mine are copper wire.

I didn't know you would use copper for safety wire. I know I wouldn't but what do I know.

Makes sense to wire them up with SS. The PO told me he had re-ringed the pistons so I know the engine has been opened up from the factory. Don't know why the bolts were not wired because they sure would make a mess of things if one were to back out and fall into the bottom end. Thanks for all the response.
