The inserts/dowels in this info sheet look the same colour as the six spares I have (on the right in post #13 and so I'll remove the three orange coloured ones I have installed and use the six newer ones.

Looking at the chart below, if you set you maximum advance at 28 degrees BTDC, your ignition timing is about 4 degrees ATDC when rpm is less than 500rpm. That should stop kickbacks.

Not for the Boyer MK3, when that is sent a low V it advances the timing, so use an electric start with a high current draw and you are guaranteed a low V and an advanced spark.
